Welcome to the Fourteenth Annual Event of the Black Hills Dance Festival.
April 29 (Evening) 30 & May 01, 2010.

We're planning a fun-filled weekend schedule, with workshops featuring international and regional instructors, with workshops for couples and linedancers each hour. There are three workshop rooms and you can enjoy nightly open dancing, offering two dance floors and spotlight dancers. All this and more at the Rapid City, South Dakota "Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Room H" (444 Mt. Rushmore Rd.)

We have reserved a block of 20 rooms at the Howard Johnsons (605-737-4656) at $62 per night; after April 15th rates increase to $98.00. Ask for the Black Hills Dance Festival room block.

FEATURED INSTRUCTORS - Troy & Emily Reed.


Troy Reed - One of the most experienced Westcoast Swing dance instructors in Colorado.
In 1995, Troy Reed started his dance career in West Coast swing, American Cha-Cha,
NightClub Two-step, Country Two Step, Waltz and Line-dancing. He started teaching dance with Jean Smith in 1997 as Dance Smith Dance Troy of Colorado. As an opening act for Reba McEntire, he performed a West Caost swing routine with Jean Smith. He has won many prestigious awards and is considered to be one of West Coast swings top allstar competitors and is a nationally recognized DJ. Troy Reed




Local area instructors for this event are:

Joe & Linda Fabian from Wheatland, Wyoming;

Machelle Cook-Holloway - An instructor from Casper, Wyoming since 1975. She is currently teaching for Casper college and the School District. Her Motto: Dancing is a lifetime of exercise, fun and romance. "E-mail Machelle"

Tim Patterson -  a dance instructor from Helena, Montana has been teaching people to dance for over 25 years.  After completing instructor training in the Fall of 1983, Tim began his career teaching in Bozeman, MT and soon branched out to include all of Montana and several other Western states in his territory.  Tim has been a guest instructor at various dance events around the West, including the Rocky Mountain Regional Dance Festival in Casper, WY, the Black Hills Dance Festival in Rapid City, SD and the Get Up And Dance workshop in Billings.  Tim's repertoire includes several different styles of Swing dance, a number of Country Western dance styles, some Latin styles and much more  now based in Helena, MT. ..  

Also our local instructional talent includes: Debbie Ellerton, Heidi Hollan and Megan Olson.

Register for a Fri-Sat "All events pass" $70.00 (18 & older) $60.00 if purchased by April 01, 2010
$50.00 (Under 18), otherwise it's $10.00 per workshop or dance.
Saturday all day passes are $45.00 (Under 18 are $35.00)

8:00-9:00 p.m. Intermediate West Coast Swing 
($10.00 per person. This is an additional fee to the event pass)
