Welcome to the Twelfth Annual Event of the Black Hills Dance Festival.
April 24 (Evening) 25 & 26, 2008.
We're planning a fun-filled weekend schedule, with workshops featuring international and regional instructors, with workshops for couples and linedancers each hour. There are four workshop rooms and you can enjoy nightly open dancing, offering two dance floors, spotlight dancers and mixers. All this and more at the Rapid City, South Dakota "Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Room H" (444 Mt. Rushmore Rd.)
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Howard Johnsons (605-737-4656) at $52.99 per night; after April 12th rates increase to $98.00. Ask for the Black Hills Dance Festival room block.
Featured Instructors - Troy Reed, Don & Esther Amick, Bryan McWherter and Judy Yamakishi.
Bryan McWherter - Bryan began dancing when he was about seven years old, attending classes in Northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York, with the help of his parents. By the mid 1990's Bryan descovered another love that also connected him to the dance community and that was cheoreography. His first efforts produced the "Firehouse Boogie" (Sixty counts) that was good enough for the July 1995 issue of CDL (Country Dance Lines) Magizine. Then in the winter of 1996 with some help from Mike Perry and Kathy Hunyard; Bryan's second dance "Santa Clus Boogie" was published in the December issue of "Linedancer Magazine". Then in the fall of 1999 Bryan discovered another new love; instruction. He says; "There is just something about teaching, sharing my gift of dance and instruction. I feel in my heart it's meant to be". Bryon McWherter
